The church is proud to be in the spot that has seen 1,200 years of Christian worship, with the current building, the Church of St Peter Bolton le Moors, being the third to occupy the site, as evidenced by the fragments of stone from Saxon and Norman times. Designed by the Lancaster architect E. J. Paley of Paley and Austin, and financed by Peter Ormrod, a wealthy banker and cotton manufacturer of the time, Bolton Parish Church is said to be one of the best examples of Victorian Gothic architecture style. If this wasn't interesting enough, the interior boasts many talking points. One of these is the Slade Chapel memorial window, a dedication to Canon James Slade, once vicar of Bolton for four decades. Today, the Church is running well under Reverend Hannah Lane.
