Hailed a Manchester man in the archives, David Bell played double bass for Billy Cotton and His Band. After delivering a rare keyed glockenspiel to the Free Trade Hall for the NSM's 1965 performance of Elgar's The Apostles, David later played in the 128-strong orchestra.
