Born in Manchester, Russell Lomas was only fifteen when he was awarded a scholarship to study with Gordon Green, Clifton Helliwell and Franz Reizenstein at the RMCM. In graduating with Distinction in Performers and Teachers Diplomas, he was awarded the Ricordi Prize for Accompaniment. As well as having given multiple piano duet and accompaniment performances in many countries, Russell has also been broadcast on the BBC and Classic FM, and featured on television for ITV and the BBC, where for the latter, he was the only accompanist to appear on at least one episode per series of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition from 1978-2004. Before retiring, Russell spent over three decades working with the Chetham's School of Music, Manchester.
