Situated on Oxford Street, Manchester, the Paramount Theatre was opened in 1930. Built on the designs of architects Frank Verity and Samuel Beverley, also known for the Plaza Theatre in London, the Paramount was built for the United States film company of the same name. A company of which are huge today. The theatre was used primarily for film, but live performances did take place. In 1940, the Paramount Theatre changed to the Odeon, with more cinema screens being added in the 1970s and early 90s. The Odeon Cinema closed in 2004, was made immune to listing in 2007, then demolished in 2017.
