Originally a congregational church house, Milton Hall, located at 244 Deansgate, Manchester, was built between 1909-11 in the Baroque style by the architect firm Bradshaw and Gass, noted for other famous buildings in Greater Manchester, including the Royal Exchange. Named after the poet John Milton, Milton Hall was staging plays as early as 1914, with the productions of Hipplytus, Electra, and Iphigeneia in Tauris. The Hall continued to stage performances, becoming the rehearsal and broadcast HQ for the BBC Northern Orchestra. In recent years, Milton Hall was converted into The Milton Club, which eventually closed (2018), and now is home to a number of small businesses, which include Remedy Lounge and The Browry (as of 2024).
