A former student of the Northern School of Music, Dr Annie O. Warburton was an author of music books throughout the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Some of her titles include Melody Writing and Analysis (1952), Score Reading, Form and History (1959), Analyses of Musical Classics (1963), and Basic Music Knowledge (1967). Her books were designed with different audiences in mind, as A Graded Music Course for Schools (1968) would show. Annie would visit the Northern again in the late 50s.
