EclipseThey worked with Tricky (kid) on his debut Album - Maxinequaye in 1994. Released 1995. Tricky & Mark Saunders (the Cure's producer) spotted F.T.V.'s Drummer Samuel Briant when they visited a venue in London's Covent Garden called the Rock Garden.
They had gone to see Martina Topley Bird's brother's band's drummer. When they saw Samuel Briant perform with F.T.V. Mark Saunders & Tricky decided to ask him if he would like to session on Tricky's Debut Album at Heathcote Studios in London. Mark Saunders being a Drummer himself knew just how to get the best from Samuel Briant on Drums in the Studio when he was performing on the 'Black Steel' track. Mark Saunders knew that Samuel Briant was working live with a click track normally but even though the session was done using a click track he still wanted to give this drummer the chance of more freedom and encouraged him to explore a more Punky style.
If you listen to the track yourself then you can make your own mind up on the result.
