Dungeons (Stockport)
I can’t believe there are not hundreds of entries regarding Dungeons seeing as this was such a popular club in Stockport. Certainly my favourite (however, I did happen to meet my first wife in there!) Dungeons was a treat to visit and a relief away from the old ‘Blue Waterfall’ on St Petersgate round the corner. Does anyone remember the bouncer? Was he called Horace? Very well known, very familiar face around town and I think very respected too. He was always on the door. A great night out. I don’t remember witnessing any trouble there either. Anyway, to the bloke who said that Dungeons was down under the old ‘Ups and Downs’ couldn't be more wrong – entry to Dungeons was at the TOP of the plaza steps and accessed through a door immediately to the right and in the corner which is still a doorway directly beside the all you can eat Chinese restaurant. Most of the time I spent there was I think during the early years of the 1980s and the memories I have of my times spent there are remembered with fondness. GOOD OLD DUNGEONS!!! Tom.
