New Luxor Club

Sent in by john Norfolk: My recollection is that I had a membership card for the Luxor Club in Hulme along with three other men I shared digs with in 1966. We went a few times and enjoyed some stand-up comedy and other acts which were slightly seedy. Then out of the blue just before Christmas we all received cards for the New Luxor Club with an explanation that the police had raided the Luxor Club so we had to become members of the NEW club. Funnily enough it was in the same premises I recall. All this was in Autumn 1966 so a long time ago and it's possible (although unlikely) that with the passage of getting on for fifty years my memory may not be entirely correct!
