Subway Collective

The Subway Collective are an urban sound collective specialisiing in songwriting, engineering and production. They work together to produce eclectic electonica and chilled down-tempo vibes. Subway Collective also specialise in remix projects and their recent work includes remixing tunes through Mute Records for Yazoo’s Reconnected EP Project (2008). To date, the band has produced exceptional remixes of songs by Alison Moyet, Bjork, Depeche Mode and Lange, and have recently started working on projects including film work and TV soundtrack / soundscape work, for companies such as the BBC and Playstation. Their rare live appearances, usually at intimate venues, are always very popular the last one attracting over 800 people in Manchester. Subway Collective are represented by web based musical services company The Same Place - thesameplace.co.uk The Collective have recently been writing their own material, while also offering a broad range of other services including: remixing, recording, production, engineering, video editing, and soundscape work. Jonna Foss, who heads up the Subway Collective, started writing music in height of the retro electro years and was in the band "Beyond Belief" with producer / engineer Roger Lyons (Lionrock, Circus Girls). Tracks were recorded in a small project studio in Everett Road Manchester owned by Mike Carr and also at Spirit Studio in Manchester. Jonna then left and starting producing tracks in his own style of electro pop. Over 200 tracks were recorded under the band name "Syenz" both at his own project studio and at Cavalier Studios in Stockport in the early 90s. In the late 90's a new band albeit brief spell as "Connection F" with Olivia Swanston and Ray Jones before forming "The Subway Collective". Jonna now has his own project studio and also recorded tracks utilising the equipment at LIPA Studios. Jonna also assisted with the management of Alison Moyet's official website and myspace for over 5 years. "Subway Collective" now focus more on remixing for other artisits although there is word of a retrospective album. 2011 has seen Jonna Foss working on some vintage electronic sounds with Collective spin off "Subway Electric" and is rumoured to be collaborating with an 80s influenced established band.
