Mike Sacks writes:
We were originally called, 'Mike Sacks and the Vikings'. but when we got our recording contract with Phillips we had to change our name. 'Carl Wayne and the Vikings' had already signed a recording contract with them.
We were renamed as Mike Sax and the Idols'.
Our first record, 'Don't Walk Away', climbed to No.1 in Turkey, and remained in the top spot for 5 or 6 weeks in 1965. We were on the Mercury label.
We played at The Rose and Crown, in Rimini (Italy) through-out the whole of the summer season. (1966).
Our A and R man at Phillips was Johnny Franz, who also recorded Dusty Springfield, The Walker Brothers, Spencer Davis and many more.
Our second record release, another original number was 'My Little One', a Christmas song, again on The Mercury label.
