The Eager Beavers
The Eager Beavers were a revivalist rockabilly band that existed between 1980 and 1983. Based in Timperley, near Altrincham, they had a 4 track ep out on Industrious Youth Records in 1981 entitled "Chewin' it over" - the tracks were recorded at Drone Studios in Chorlton and were "Aint got a penny", "Tired of you", "Can't someone tame my baby" and "Crazy Girl". The band built up a decent local following and played pubs and social clubs across the Greater Manchester area. The members were Dave Bancroft (Vocals/Guitar), Paul Burton (Guitar/Backing Vocals), Pat Marston (Bass) and Martin "Storky" Kershaw on drums. The band often played on the same bill as other local bands The Surgical Supports, X-Defektors, Mudhutters, Scorched Earth and The Ridiculous Bunnies as well as deputising on several occasions for Beau Leisure who's growing popularity at the time took them elsewhere. The Eager Beavers disbanded in 1983, reformed for a one-off performance in 1993 and are actually getting back together in October 2011 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of their ep.
