Mike Prince is a DJ, presenter and quizmaster DJ brought up in Swinton, Salford, and has been performing now for over 30 years.
As one of the best all round DJs and presenters, he has worked with some of the country's top names in musical entertainment, including iconic figures such as Edwin Starr, Herman's Hermits, Freddie & The Dreamers and Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders.
Mike has also been engaged to perform for royalty (Princess Michael of Kent), and has been invited to a number of formal functions.
From the high days to the low days Mike's been through a lifetime, and then some, his career is compelling reading...
The first record he ever played was ‘You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling’ by the Righteous Brothers in 1965, which was at All Saints Youth Club in Swinton when he was 13 years old.
Then in 1971, he went on to Cromwell Road Youth Club in Salford under the watchful eye of his friend and mentor Gary Jackson, who was the resident DJ there; he learnt a lot from Gary in the early days.
As a professional, Mike started in 1973 at the Wishing Well Club in Swinton and was resident DJ for almost 8 years. He organised different themed nights - for instance Tuesday night was punk night - and occasionally he’d book local bands like the Fast Cars, the Salford Jets and the Change.
