Members were Tony "Batman" Halbert, aka Tone the Bone, from Heaton Mersey, on virtuoso guitar, and Stewart Wilson on can't remember what, plus nearly me, Nasher aka Paul Nachman, on bass for first gig, but after two days intensive training I was retired gracefully with near dislocated fingers. Their stuff was complex to say the least, and my playing definitely wasn't! Can't remember who stood in on bass in the end.
First gig was at the Commercial, a sawdust on the floor pub near the market in Stockport, next to the gas works. Next gig I remember was at Stockport Tech supporting someone or other. Tone dedicated a number called "Yeah, Why Not?" to "a greasy fucker at the back of the hall called Nasher!" as apparently I used to say "yeah, why not?" a lot. That would explain why I can't remember stuff.
This would be around 1970. I moved down to Bath in '71, and Tone moved down there a couple of years later for a while. He played professionally for some time, for Sweet Sensation I think.
