Band / Artist
262
262 were formed in Hulme in 1979 by Gareth Jones and Colin Robinson, who had previously played together in various bands in Leeds. Experimental music, featuring found sounds, electronics (mostly a Wasp synth and Spider sequencer), guitars and saxophone. 262 put out two cassettes on the Terminal Music label: "For Fun & Profit" (1980) "Houdini's Geister-Kabinett" (1982) Gareth went on to play drums in Head Flaming Dance (led by Ian Nance, ex-V2). Gareth is now a lorry driver. Colin played with Night Visitors and Operation Guitar Boy, and is now in Big Block 454, who carry on the dada-esque off-the-wall traditions of 262. By the way, Martin Hannett was a fan of 262.
