Dave Taylor remembers:
Harlem Spirit seemed to evolve from a Whalley Range soul and reggae covers band from the late 1970s called The Stymulators, led by Trevor aka Rikki Rogers.
The band had also included people like- Max - sax, Jo Chepito - percussion, Steve 'Jaffer' Jeffries - keyboards, Rubberlegs - bass, Paul Nelson - bass, Keith - bass, Woody - organ and Mike Sparks - drums (tragically killed in a fire at his house in Longsight).
Pete Strong was temporarily out of the band for the 6 months that I joined on keys (with guitarist Mick Routledge (now a sound engineer/producer). But we still played some of Pete's tunes- like 'Dem a Sus (in de Moss)', and '(No) Race Hate'.
