Greasy Bear

MDMArchive user 'John' sent in this recollection of Greasy Bear: Greasy Bear were the first band I ever saw. I was 14 at the time. The venue was Uppermill Civic Hall. They played 'Three Wheels On My Tank'. The Bear were my favourite band. I watched them around Manchester. They did a great gig at Oldham College around '72 and a festival in St Anne's Square around the same time. Sadly I don't have any of their music on CD, vinyl or whatever. After CP Lee left, they sounded like The Grateful Dead meets The Byrds with a touch of Fairport Convention: a really unique, great sound with Bruce Mitchell's drums powering it all along.
