John Squire was born on the 24th November, 1962. He started learning guitar aged 15 after begging his dad to get him a guitar after he heard the string bend in God Save The Queen by The Sex Pistols. He was good friends with Ian Brown and Ian introduced him to punk music and John Squire got heavily into the clash. The first thing he learned to play on the guitar was three blind mice on one string. John Squire also spent all of his free time doing art in his bedroom. Eventually Ian Brown, John Squire and Simon Wolstencroft started a band called the Patrol. They eventually invited Andy Couzens to join the band, and Pete Garner became their roadie. The patrol played their first gig on the 28th march 1980, and their last on the 14th November 1980. After various re-installments of the band, such as member changes and name changes (English Rose, The Fireside Chaps) the waterfront were formed and they recorded demos in 1982. The stone roses form in 1984.
