When those student folk finish their days in University, there comes a point at which you become unstuck, lost. Thankfully for us the realisation of joining the real world has only strengthened The Answering Machine’s lo-fi indie pop resolve. Formed during those halcyon days of cheap beer and Countdown like many others, there songs have now gotten stronger and stronger since waving goodbye to academia.
From the cheap pulse of an eighties drum machine, to the sparkling jangle of rhythm guitar and foot shimmying bass, The Answering Machine’s charming brand of Manc pop has stolen many hearts and is set to win over even more lost indie-kids. Lest we forget Martin’s cracked, delicate vocal and the ability to cram in plenty ideas –lyrical and musical- into the space of three delightful, winsome minutes. Look out for forthcoming single ‘Stolen Hearts’, majestically addictive its sure to propel an already growing fanbase skywards.
