Born in Fallowfield in 1923, Patricia Phoenix was an English actress who became well known for being an original cast member of Coronation Street, playing Elsie Tanner. Before landing herself in this role, she also appeared alongside Thora Hird in the show Happy Days, along with making film appearances in Blood of the Vampire (1958) and Jack the Ripper (1959). Patricia was a fan favourite and was well known for being a sex symbol, with her relationships and personal life never out of the tabloids. She died of lung cancer in Cheadle at the age of 62.
