Anthony Gilbert was a British composer and academic. During his association with the RNCM, Anthony became head of the school of composition and contemporary music, retiring in 1999. Before his time with the college, he was head of the composition department at New South Wales State Conservatorium. As well as being the founder and director behind the New Music Forum, Manchester, and Akanthos Ensemble, the RNCM, Anthony's compositional works, many of them for large chamber ensembles, were published by Schott and the University of York Music Press.
