Born in Wigan, David Mason was a former pupil of the Royal Northern College of Music. On leaving, David obtained a role at the Britten Pears School in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, working alongside Peter Pears, Hans Hotter, Elizabeth Schwarzkopf and Galina Vishnevskaya. On leaving the role in England, David then worked with the Dutch Radio and German Radio Choirs, both in their respective countries. He finally settled in Madrid, where he was a vocal coach for the Alonso Lobo's Chorus and for the Balearic Islands' University Choir, also working at the Academy of Ancient Music at the University of Salamanca. David died in 2018 at the age of 58.
