The Vedettes
The Vedettes were formed in Manchester in 1960, playing mainly guitar instrumentals (i.e. The Ventures etc). They later recruited a young 13 year old kid called Stevie Ball on vocals, and played at all the top variety clubs in and around Manchester, performing with stars such as Tommy Cooper, Bob Monkhouse, and most of the top singers of the day. The group members included Pete Harris on lead guitar, Garry Heywood on drums and Keith Robinson on Bass. They split after a year or so, with the members joining other Manchester groups...
