What we do:

Manchester Digital Music Archive (MDMArchive) is an online community archive established in 2003 to celebrate Greater Manchester music and its social history. Our crowd-sourced archive and website is a place for people all over the world to share Manchester music ephemera and memories, be they fans, musicians or involved with the music industry itself.

Information we collect:

When you sign up to contribute to Manchester Digital Music Archive you provide us with:

• An email address
• A password
• A username

Optionally you may also wish to upload:

• Comments under artefacts
• Images relating to Greater Manchester music history

If you use your Facebook account to sign in, we receive your email address and Facebook ID.

The purpose for which we process your data:

We use your email address (and optionally Facebook ID) to create your unique account and to also allow you to log in to your account in future.

Our Data Controller under the General Data Protection Regulation is MDMArchive’s Co-founder Alison Surtees.

You also have a range of rights in relation to your personal data including the right of access to that data, the right to request it is deleted, amended or that we stop processing it. If you wish to exercise these rights please contact info@mdmarchive.co.uk

You also have a right of complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office about the use of your personal data.

When we might contact you:

You can opt in to receive our occasional newsletter when you create an account with us.

We may use your email address to contact you regarding website updates, research requests, or to request permission to use one of your uploaded images outside of our website.

Uploads to MDMA:

You can also choose to share images and written text relating to Greater Manchester music with us. When sharing images, we ask that you agree to our Terms and Conditions

We will remove anything that contravenes our Terms and Conditions.

If we want to use one of your uploaded images outside of our website i.e. for a physical exhibition or publication, we will always email to ask permission first.

MDMA relies on article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR ‘legitimate purposes processing condition’ to process your personal data for the above purposes. The legitimate purposes are: to maintain a charity and online crowd sourced archived dedicated to Greater Manchester music history.

Technical information we collect:

Whenever you use any website, mobile application or other internet service, certain information is created and logged automatically. Here are some of the types of information we collect:

• Log data. When you use MDMArchicve, our server records information (“log data”), including information that your browser automatically sends whenever you visit a website 
• Cookie data. We also use “cookies” (small text files sent by your computer each time you visit our website) or similar technologies to capture log data. When we use cookies or other similar technologies, we use session cookies (that last until you close your browser) or persistent cookies (that last until you or your browser delete them).
• Google Analytics When someone visits our website we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

How long we keep your information:

We keep your information only as long as you hold an account with MDMArchive.

If you would like to delete your account and / or the images your have uploaded, you can contact us at: info@mdmarchive.co.uk and we will delete them for you
