MDMArchive spokesperson CP Lee told the story of the legendary 1964 Blues & Gospel Train on Radio 4, Thursday 13th November.
The Blues & Gospel Train was a superb and influential Granada TV musical extravaganza featuring rare and amazing footage of Muddy Waters, Sonny Terry, Brownie McGhee and the incredible Sister Rosetta Tharpe. The acts played live on Wilbraham Road Railway Station, (decorated to look like a shotgun shack) in the leafy Manchester suburb of Whalley Range.
To hear the fascinating story how the show was produced and filmed and also first hand accounts from record producer Joe Boyd (then Tour Manager), Granada TV producer Johnnie Hamp and members of the audience follow
