'Where’s Bowie?' - a night of film, live music and DJs aims to celebrate the life and music of David Bowie, whilst raising money for MIND.
It will feature a rare showing of ‘Bowie 2001’ - a film by artist Fritz Von Runte that splices the Bowie back catalogue into Stanley Kubrick’s ‘2001’, plus a live performance of Bowie tracks by Manchester all-girl punk three-piece Hooker. Dame-flavoured DJ sets come courtesy of Pop ‘Til You Drop and friends.
Organiser Abigail Ward of Manchester District Music Archive said, “David Bowie has been absent from the music scene for some years now. We all miss him. I wanted to put on a night that evoked the glamour and waywardness of his best work whilst promoting awareness of mental health issues over the festive period.
We’ll be transforming Night and Day Café into a glitter-coated glam-rock party pavilion and sending all willing aliens on an intergalactic mission from ‘Space Oddity’ through ‘Suffragette City’ to ‘Super Creeps’ and beyond.
Exclusive ‘Where’s Bowie?’ merchandise will be on sale, with all proceeds going to MIND. We want everyone to dress up, dig deep and dance their legs down to the knees.”
