Last weekend, Manchester was treated to a double-header of Nile Rodgers and Chic thanks to an In Conversation event with Dave Haslam at Zion Arts Centre on 11/11/11 followed by a full band show at The Warehouse Project on 12/11/11. The Chic guitarist and legendary producer spoke at length about his battle with cancer, his work with stars such as David Bowie and Diana Ross and his days riding the crest of the disco wave with musical partner Bernard Edwards. On the Saturday night, Nile played a storming hit-laden set to a rapturous WHP crowd, which culminated in Johnny Marr being invited on stage for 'Le Freak'. Johnny was at the event with his son, Nile Marr, who was named after Rodgers and is a singer, songwriter and guitar player in his own right.
