There is terrible news that Manchester photographer
Harry Goodwin has had his precious and irreplaceable photographs stolen from his house. Harry is a bit of an unsung hero in Manchester, and someone we at the Archive are very keen to champion. Harry was inhouse photographer for Top of the Pops when it was filmed on Dickenson Road in Rusholme.
We have added some new features to our site. Since the site went live four months ago, users have emailed some suggestions to us for which we are most grateful. The first new feature is the 'show me something' link in the navigation menu. When pressed it will show a random artefact for a band, artist or venue with a minimum of three uploaded items. We were going to call it the 'randomizer', and maybe we still will (one day). You may also notice that when someone posts a comment on an artefact you have uploaded you will receive an email letting you know.
There will soon be a couple of other new features. We are adding a Dj section so you can link uploaded artefacts to a Dj. Also there will be an essays and writings section. We have a couple of items to start with for this section, but if you enjoy writing and love music from Manchester please feel free to write something related and
email it to us.

Sadly the beautiful Odeon on Oxford Rd will almost certainly be demolished soon. A campaign to save the fantastic art-deco building has failed and idiots are going to knock it down to make yet another glass eyesore. It's unbelievable that the building isn't listed. Time to say goodbye to another historic Manchester building...
