(Joy Division poster from the Rob Gretton archive. Designer unknown.)
Brown Owl Films are producing a feature length definitive documentary on Joy Division, directed by Grant Gee and written by Jon Savage. The film is being made with the participation of all the surviving members and
key characters including Peter Savile and Tony Wilson. The documentary is being made for worldwide distribution in 2007.
Brown Owl are looking for the following:
1. Photos of fans and friends at Factory nights or Manchester punk/new wave gigs and parties during the late 70s/early 80s. The ideal format to receive these on would be CD or DVD if there are a lot, or scans (jpegs around the 5 meg size) if you have just a few. Can you please ensure these are clearly marked with your name and contact details.
2. Photos of Manchester and surrounding areas during late 70s/early 80s, i.e. regeneration of the city, cityscapes, landscapes etc. This is to help us recreate Manchester of the Joy Division period.
3.Fans' knowledge - in particular do you know of any recording - audio and/or video of the band talking.
