The Windrush Centre, 70 Alexandra Road, Moss Side, Manchester M16 7WD
The Commonword Ghosts: Disappearing Histories Project is looking for photos of the Moss Side and Hulme clubs of the 50s to 80s for an archive and exhibition of African-Caribbean heritage in Manchester.
If you have any old photos of the Nile, Reno or PSV clubs that you would like to share, please bring them along to the drop in at The Windrush Centre and help us preserve the cultural history of the local community before it’s forgotten.
The Ghosts project overall will seek to help people share their memories and stories in a creative re-imagining of what the clubs of that era were like and what role they played in building and sustaining communities.
We hope the artefacts, memories, photos and even flim clips will inspire new creative writing from local writers and new arts form local artists which we will showcase at the same time as the exhibition's launch. Want to get involved?
