“Last saw Shaun maybe 1982. We were at a party and he told me that he was about to start drama school, glad it appears to have worked out. Saw the video, it was SFW all over again. Remember As A Child he did with The Relatives. Mark and I met a few times and he was a lovely guy. I was with the very appropriately named The Losers Then, with Steve Murghatryod, Sean and I got on well and I am glad he's doing well, good to hear about Mark too.”
“Thanks, they were taken by the Manchester Evening News for a story that never went out.... there is also a short film that I believe Steve Murgatroyd has, however I havent seen Steve since 1980 and I cannot track him down. Can anyone help? Last thing I heard he was working for the Oldham Chronicle or the Oldham Auction rooms.”
“Shaun went on to form the RELATIVES... much in the vein of SFW. They released a single 'As a Child' which was good, a bit commercial. Shaun, at his best was characterised by his wit in his songs. He told me that his big influence was the Kinks although I'm not sure if he was joking.”
“They did a copy of 'Eye Level' recorded with Mickie Most reggae style. It was rumoured that Alan was the secret guitarist on a lot of those RAK singles, mud, showaddy waddy etc. They chose a shite song for New Faces.”
“Victor played with Hendrix (Electric Ladyland I think) was on the original Jesus Christ Superstar Recording with Evonne Elliman and Ian Gillan he was Caiaphas... I know he played sessions with Stones, Lennon and Gary Moore.... oh and he did Bojangles with Nic Hall...”
“Hi Alan, remember me and Penny, I worked at the Oldham Music Centre with you, Bill and Darryl for a while. I'm still playing, mostly blues (of course)... living in Blackpool but think about those days fondly.....”
“Back right is a dear old friend named Alan Garret. Amazing blues player played a red 335 and was a big influence on me when I was a kid. Haven's seen him for 30 years, Alan are you still out there?”
“SFW were a great high energy band and I always loved watching them. Sean was a lovely bloke and Marc nuts but a charming guy. They were pretty hot around the Oldham area at the time... I was with a band called The Losers at the time (very appropriate on reflection). We were a very blues orientated band but SF were always supportive and I liked them very much. Haven't seen Saun for a quarter of a century or so,,,, the last time I was with him he was talking about going into acting, drama school or something. It was nice to see his face on this page and I hope he and all SFW are keeping well. Remember 'Information Please' Sean hated it but it was a crowd pleaser.”
