“I remember Hime & Addison on John Dalton Street very well from the 1970's as I purchased many tickets from the box office located within the store. My friend and I even queued up all night outside the store to purchase tickets for Emerson Lake & Palmer at the Free Trade Hall in November 1972. Those were the days when you could purchase tickets a couple of weeks before the actual performance and not have to wait nearly a year before you get to see the band!”
“I remember this store very well as I often made a bee line for it to be able to get LPs which weren't always available in the run of the mill record shops. I bought a couple of Led Zeppelin bootleg albums recorded at their May 1975 gigs at Earl's Court which I was thrilled to get as I'd been to both gigs.”
“I remember this venue which was situated close to Belle Vue down a side street and saw a few bands there including Leo Sayer and Van der Graf Generator! From memory the place was a bit of a dump but served a purpose I suppose.”
“Hime & Addison was located on John Dalton Street. They sold tickets from a small booth at the rear of the shop. I remember queuing all night for tickets for Led Zep at Earl's Court (they played from 8.30pm til midnight on the Saturday night - value for money in those days) and also for ELP at the Free Trade Hall!”
“I was also at this concert and managed to get Bryan Ferry's autograph after waiting round the back of the hall. He came to the rear door with a lady on each arm (one was most likely Jerry Hall although I didn't take much notice at the time as I was too eager to get his autograph). I loved this venue as there was no hassle involved in getting autographs for my collection including The Who.”
“I was at this gig and remember the poster of their first album cover as a backdrop and being crammed into this small "living room" type of setting. I awlays thought they'd appeared under another name though but maybe my memory is just blurred.”
“I have some internal photos of friends when we frequented the Heavy Rock nights on Thursdays but not of any of the bands who played there unfortunately.”
“Now then, it's great to find someone else who was at Queen's Opera House gig in 1973 supporting MTH. Forever etched in my memory that one. I also note that you were a big Hawkwind fan -me too. In fact I saw them many times at the FTH with one very memorable gig when Hawkwind headlined, supported by a male singer with guitar (name escapes me) and further supported by Genesis with Peter Gabriel in his many guises. I think the date must have been 73 or 74, perhaps you were there Arnie?”
