“I also went to the thatched house if I wasn't playing. When I first went, there were three floors of jazz, the bottom floor with a band of Mu. medics called 'the gutbucket five' lol. I also went to the Sportsman on Market street, where my mate played piano with Dizzy's band. At one time there were two girls in the band, Sue McManus on banjo and Brenda - on piano. The licence closed at 9.30pm!”

“I remember them playing the Bodega. My Aunt's friend's son was in the band and had some sort of problem like ms. I was to audition and join them but it didn't happen and I went on to join a jazz band. Great club with loads of atmoshere!”
