“The Tab opened in late 1966 and closed end of 1969. Reg Pickstock owned it and sold it to Tony Stuart who opened it as Sgt Pepppers. This was a completely different club than The Tabernacle club. The Tab hosted groups every Friday Saturday and Sunday nights including many famous ones.It also had all-nighter sessions. The DJ was Jimmy Cohen and he played records which would now be classed as northern soul. The club was frequented by Mods and it became there home club. Sgt Peppers was a completely different club, more of a disco and unlike The Tab sold beer. Further information on The Tabernacle club can be found in the now cult publication a short account of the club The Day The TAB Was Fab by Bernard Roberts if you are lucky to find a copy.”
