“Wow I've still my ticket even though I was drumming on stage with The Flood, I borrowed Fictitious Names' drummers kit, I snapped the leather lead on the hi hats and he was very gracious about it, great bloke, great drummer too, can't remember his name though Martin but I remember you and David and his brother, you used to play at the two tubs in 84”
“Fantastic photo!, I played there in April 85 with The Flood, I had just 1 pair of sticks, lost one under the stack of chairs behind the kit, scrambled under the chairs and retrieved the stick just in time for a complicated fill!!. Dead funny, we packed up and drove back to Rochdale and did another gig at The Lamplighter!”
“I worked with Gary Foy , singer with Tunnel Frenzies in Whitworth St Manchester from 89 to about 97 with his brother Steve. I did a rehearsal with Gary, Jason Robards (?) On bass and another guy at The Boardwalk rehearsal rooms, must have been 91?. Ive still got their 12" EP. Believe it or not, I sold a smoky chrome Pearl export kit in 89 and it turned up at those rehearsal rooms, it still had my initials inside the bass drum!. We worked a minute walk from The Swinging sporran and I played there in the infamous gig in 89 drumming for Victory Mansions. I think Gary is living in Wigan now. Happy days, RIP Boardwalk and Thr Lamplighter, is this the same club as the lamplight, the former was next to the gas works opposite Rochdale college”
“I remember going to The Elephant and Castle in 1983 (before it got ruined, knocked through and full of golfers and horse riders) with Mark Witham and got pasted on too much ale, staggered back to his house and played The Fall's 'Do the huckle schmuck' on a cassette. Good days.”
“Merry xmas Alastair, and indeed everyone!, "Ricks Chicks - Rick was slick, not thick, the girls would flick, and kick, on the dancefloor, till 4... i shoulda been JCC!”
