“I still have the original hand-drawn artwork. We posted it to the printers ( based Near Birmingham FYI), late on a Friday night, or else we missed the booked print deadline of Monday.
We produced all of Spike Island from that Olympic Festival office (Churchgate House, 56 Oxford St) and my office at home in Chorlton. As payback, the tickets have the original Manchester Olympic Fest logo on the back, which Ian Brown was happy to support. He even dropped by the office a few times. As regards using Hough End for Bunny Wailer, yes it was the local vicar who found the covenant. I always argue that The Police dog training HQ is on Hough End and every year they produced a weekend festival of events on Hough End and no one moaned about that, for some reason. I'm not sure we did print any posters, but may be wrong.
We'll leave you all to draw your own conclusions
Cheers, Phil Jones.”

“It is absolute bollocks about expenses not being sent. I wasn't allowed access to the checkbook. it was MANUS
(MCR Area NUS) who funded it along with the NW TUC.
The organising committee and the City Council decided there were too many acts on the bill. I was asked to reduce the list by an hour. For some reason, we decided on Ronnie Laine. As and when I do my autobiography, it'll go down as the worst thing I did in my whole career, phoning him up. He was so disappointed.
Hawkwind pulled out 2 days before the show. They were stuck In Rockfield studios, well behind with recording, and had to be finished by Sunday night. Dave Brock himself made the call, to me. It was a bitter blow, especially since we had stood Ronnie down. I have no recall of The Thompson Twins being involved at any stage. Cheers Phil Jones”
