A review of the Royal College of Art end of year show, described as “the primary school of art”, which debunks with regionalist fervour the still prevalent myth of London art schools as the sole motor of rebellious pop music: “They tend to be dreary places full of Q-Tips and Gary Glitter fans.” There’s also the familiar, camp City Fun emphasis on the importance of sartorial splendour: “Posers? Dear, they all wore jeans and sweatshirts. Understand that – AND REMEMBER IT.”
