Figaro Figaro Figaro! There's a lot of students involved in this production. Great to have this list of performers.

A smashing junior school concert by the Northern School of Music. It's super interesting that they've programmed some of the music by their own student David Dubery, performed by the young man himself!

A brass concert! Early days of the NSM there were no brass students. Mainly because the founder was a pianist with no other staff to teach other instruments but also it was primarily female students and it was traditionally discouraged for a woman to put anything in her mouth...
It looks like not much had changed but big up the female timpanist!

Another school mash up featuring "creative dance, dance drama, choral verse". I would have loved to see the dance-version of Dante. It had better have been weird af.

Another day out at Salford for the orchestra of the NSM. There are really detailed programme notes (descriptions and explanations of the music to be performed) but no author of them. Creating programme notes is a particular skill and they are usually credited. Could it have been the conductor, maybe the principal, a staff member?

Most important note: coffee will be served in the canteen during the interval. Important for a wintery night performance in the famously chilly Northern School of Music.

This is from the Speech and Drama school of the NSM. The House of Bernarda Alba is a play by Frederico GarcĂa Lorca. It's about women in a Spanish village, with themes of oppression, conformity, repression and sexuality, the effect of men on women. Lorca was supposedly murdered by nationalists in Spanish Civil War.

Not sure why this has a line through it. Maybe to ensure it doesn't go into circulation but goes straight to file. Or perhaps it was cancelled? I can't find a review for it being performed so perhaps.

A piano recital by the Northern School of Music students with two interesting pieces programmed. Tobias Matthay was the namesake of the school's early years, the Matthay School of Music (Manchester Branch). Alan Rawsthorne again pops up as a seeming favourite of student Graham Jackson. Rawsthorne was a composition students at the Royal Manchester College of Music just up the road from the NSM a few decades before.
