The Hacienda
Other, 1991
Ed Zone writes:

Im not sure of the dates really but i think when the Hacienda closed after Claire Leighton died they had a refurb. Ben Kelly was involved and this included some very nice glazed bricks on the exterior. At the time i thought this was a bit poncey - too far from the industrial aesthetic originally adopted. I stopped going on a regular basis at that point anyway. Anyway - as with most things Factory the bricks were very good quality, beautifully finished and, one suspects, very expensive. I bought a couple at the charity auction and im sure Ben Kelly will be happy in the knowledge that they have achieved a useful end and they now are propped up against my washing machine to stop it vibrating during the spin wash.
Tim Lennox
Photograph, 1991
Tim Lennox was instrumental in bringing house, disco and rave to the gay crowds of Manchester via the Number 1 Club on Central Street.

DJ Kath McDermott – a Number 1 club punter writes:

“Tim Lennox played every single week to an ever-growing and adoring crowd of reprobates: rent boys, straight girls, queens, scallies, dykes and dealers. We all congregated in a heaving, sweaty basement to hear a phenomenal blend of house, disco, garage and rave on a heavy quadraphonic system with kick-ass lights in a fog of dry-ice and euphoria.”

The Hacienda
Membership Card, 1991
Neil says:

Membership card for Nude Night at The Hacienda.
They started the scheme for regulars as the doormen had started to knock people back more as this was around the start of problems with the clubs license.

This is 002 although then the club closed down for a few months after being issued and Nude night was no more.
