Just had another listen to this now whilst writing this and its still kicks like a donkey on acid.

We're still in touch with Kahuun and the Norwegian crew and Kahuun features in our film on the scene, Northern Disco Lights.

This has had some hammer!

You can hear from this, their first album just how talented they are. They were the flagship band Paper band. Brilliant live shows have been their secret weapon. It always felt like an injustice that they never broke through to the mainstream when they knock spots off most of their contemporaries who did.

Danni has got to be one of the best front people out there. But they’ve carved out a great niche for themselves and have done it through hard graft and bloody-mindedness.

Its thrilling to see how well they have done. We still occasionally wake up in the night screaming in terror at the amount of un-cleared samples on this album.

We have unearthed some rare footage of Robodisco in 1999 and it is the time Soane tore the roof off Planet K. The Paper crew were out in full effect, with a few early doors liveners in the Briton’s Protection before hitting the venue where Erik Rug warmed up...but things get hazy from there.

There is also footage of the after party but it is probably best left in the archive. Trumpets were involved.

Article from The Metro back in 2000 (remember when they actually used to focus on local events?) about Robodisco at Planet K on the night that Kenny Hawkes made his first ever appearance there.

From an article in City Life which was a 'Record Label Special'. A short insight into Paper and what we did, do & continue to do even now - 'decent house'....well we think so!

Tom Middleton and Global Communication were pretty big at the time. We used to run in to him at The Big Chill and he was always bonkers.

If you ever joined us an danced at Robodisco at Planet K then you will have certainly heard the famous airhorn cranked out across the venue! You may even have been one of the regulars who asked to have a go only to end up breaking it!

Here it is after a lengthy stay in Ben's outhouse/barn...dusty, full of hay and certainly seen better days but what a beauty!

Paper Recordings gas lighter (which actually still works!), not sure of the exact date this is from or why we got these done but pretty sure they will have responsible for blazing up many a jazz cigarette at some of the Robodisco after parties across the city.

Long before the era of the tote bag we used to get proper record bags made up to sell as merch!

Sturdy, solid clip and they looked pretty cool too!
