Carl Fuchs was not available to perform at this concert in 1916 as he was interned in Germany at the time, having been in the country at the outbreak of WW1. Adolf Brodsky had been interned in Austria as war broke out but had been allowed to return to England by this time. Frank Merrick had been imprisoned as a conscientious objector but had been released by 1916.
