Oh Manchester, so much to answer for

I'm not originally from Manchester, but have lived here since I was 20. I first visited Mancunia when I was 17, and I immediately knew I was home the second I turned the corner from Stevenson Square onto Oldham Street after stepping off the 365 Bus from Huddersfield. Many of my favourite bands are from this neck of the woods, and as far as I'm concerned it's the best damned city in the world!

Form and Substance, a book about Joy Division which I bought from Eastern Bloc. The date marked in the book, 2nd December 1989, was the very first time I visited Manchester (and Stretford, in a vain attempt to find Morrissey's old family home)

My original copy of the Madchester Rave Remixes on vinyl by the Happy Mondays. I honestly believe that the Hacienda was Manchester's true and rightful Cathedral, the city hymn was the Club Mix of Hallelujah on this release, and that Tony Wilson was God!

My most treasured possession, which is the copy of Vauxhall and I on vinyl by Morrissey that I queued for 8 hours to get signed by the man himself! He also recognised me, which made my day, week, month, year, decade and century all in one!
