Lucy Pierce ?1886-?1970
Lucy Pierce attended the Royal Manchester College of Music from 1901 to 1909 to study piano. Although a long time in formal study, she soon became one of the most notable pianists of her time within the Manchester performances circuits, during her years at the college. She won the Hallé Memorial Piano Scholarship in 1906 and the Dayas Gold Medal in 1909. Only a few years after her graduation, in 1913 she was appointed a teacher at the College. She continued performing well into the 1950s, including with the Hallé Orchestra.
