Friday 27th, we finish typing CITY FUN. Go down to the Resource Centre, Duplicate, staple…..Me and Neil down to the APPOLLO…..BUZZCOCKS gig. Late. Stand outside,sell 5 copies. .Mostly skint people trying to get in,Who knows Who . The outside of a gig, the fans with no cash………………………….
Go to University Union, a disco on. Sit on the stairs and sell a few copies. Students…. Some are O.K. The Union ………. Got pretty straight over the last couple of years.
THE SQUAT. SKREWDRIVER plus FIREPLACE…Last numbers…Left no impression.Skrewdriver,heavy punk metal, headbanging music. Competent. We left after 2 or 3 numbers.

THE FACTORY…. JOHNNY MOPED PLUS…. ORCHESTRAL NOISE? A good atmosphere. Orchestral Noise. Never worked out. What is going on, properly 7 keyboards, plus guitar ? Pleasant sounds ( background ) .. Music, Noise….
Johnny Moped,a last minute substitute for split enz, consequently, place only half full. They start. An unconvinced audience. They have our attention. We watch unmoved. Riffing… dead simple… Power chords…. perfect. Chock, Chock, Chock, Chock…. The dance floor starts filling. Last few numbers, Weve made up our minds. Our feet move. Our legs move…. The Encore…. Our feet move, OUR LEGS MOVE….. NO MORE.

MANCHESTER POLYTECHNIC….APOLOGY…
I appear to have got several peoples backs up,to put it mildly,with the POLY section of the Manchester write up.
The offending section concerns the Union Card bit. The text tends to give the impression that the Union has either turned into a den of vice, or, read another way, That it endorses the actions currently being taken by Greater Manchester Police. NEITHER IS TRUE.. The Union is merely complying with the law… Different to complying with the police….. in order to safeguard the interests of members and guests.
By following POLY procedure, you are following the LETTER of the law, whilst remaining free to enjoy yourself. There is no attempt at any repression whatsoever within the Union itself…………… Apologies to Guy Manning and the Polytechnic UNION……………….
