Band On The Wall
1979

A very early photograph of a young, drummerless ACR onstage in May 1979 at Bowdon Vale, supporting Joy Division.

The photo was submitted to the new website www.acertainratio.net with these details but the date & venue remain unconfirmed.

Another source believes it was taken at The Band on the Wall in late 1978.

Any comments or corrections would be most appreciated.

“The wallpaper thing was pointed out but then we remembered, at the ACR gigs they used to put up a screen behind the band and project old 8mm films on to it as they played.”

“There is no doubt that this is Band on the Wall. This is probably one of the gigs that ACR played with Joy Division, the bands played here on Monday 4th September 1978 and Tuesday 26th September 1978.”

There was also the tale of when Springsteen was touring in the late 80s/early 90s and was rumoured to be doing some secret gigs. Euro-guitar god Yngwie Malmsteen played at the BOTW (I think) and was puzzled to be swamped with disgruntled Bruce fans.”
