“BRILLIANT photo! Love it.”

“Quite a common sight as in the sixties and seventies local councils and town planners caused more devastation than the blitz! The reasoning is simple. These forward-thinking futurescapers forgot to "plan" any pubs in their new utopia, so the demolition guys would simply refuse to knock down some pubs - otherwise there was nowhere for them to go for a drink! When the builders turned up the story was the same. I can well remember one old boozer just off Ellor Street in Salford and the boys simply refused to knock it down. It stood for ages in the middle of all the new development until new pubs were opened. The workers united......”

The concrete flats to the left of the pub have been demolished and all surrounding areas have been redeveloped. Ormsgill Close has been renamed to George Parr Rd.”
