This piece of artwork is lifted from the booklet of seminal Manchester music comp "Unzipping the Abstract". If you haven't got a copy, go seek. Les at Kingbee sourced some original unplayed copies a few years back, he may still have a few. Its only part of the drawing and is the kind of thing I personally love. Picture is in the link below as not wide enough for ARCHIVE?
Anyway, I can't find my copy at the moment so can't confirm the year, probably 1980 or 81. I can't believe I've had to add The Liggers to the archive. They were nothing do with myself I promise. Too young unfortunately..I think they were from Wythenshawe but I wasn't around at the time..anyway if you want amazing DIY 80s post-punk pop with a killer female vocal check "Pretty Girl". Even better on a youtube search is "Me and Mary Jane" (see youtube clip above, ignore pic from earlier comp) which seems to be from a Peel session. And there's more, check Deathwish, brilliant. This band had a great keyboardist also from the sounds, deserve much wider recognition - hence this rant. But don't bid up the cost of the "Potent Human" EP on ebay (with the equally good Bathroom Renovations amongst others) too high or I'll never end up getting a copy myself!
Any info on the band please email me at chris@flashback81.co.uk, love to hear some more stuff.
