Flyer
New Century Hall
24th July 2008

Flyer for Daniel Johnston gig at New Century Hall 2008.

This was the second time I had seen Daniel and to this day is still my favourite performance of his. The all star backing band included Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Jad Fair (Half Japanese), Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse), James McNew (Yo La Tengo) and Scout Niblett. There were rumours that Moe Tucker may be playing drums but that was not to be, not sure how close that got to happening.

Jad Fair, Scout Niblett, Norman Blake and Mark Linkous all performed short solo sets. Got there just in time to see Norman, I'm fairly sure he performed He'd Be A Diamond, Baby Lee and I Don't Want Control Of You.

After a couple of songs playing guitar himself, Daniel left the stage and returned with his band. Too many great songs to remember them all but highlights for me included Speeding Motorcycle, Go, Mountain Top and Hey Joe. He finished with an unaccompanied Devil Town. My favourite moment (as always) was True Love Will Find You In The End, this time with Mark Linkous. True Love...always gets me and I may have had something in my eye.
