Add from City Life 9, April ’84. Says somewhere in the same issue about Section D being local promoters at the time. One time, coming out of Deville’s in the early hours, a whole heap of exiting punters turned a car on its side just for larks. It wasn’t big and it wasn’t clever but it seemed to have entertained the departing troops stood watching in the cold and ankle deep snow. Seems the pleasures of life were so much simpler then....
Other stuff in this issue :- an article on Manchester holding “The First International Conference of Local Authority Nuclear Free Zones”, with over 200 delegates from afar afield as New Zealand and Japan; with M/c being the first of this kind in the U.K. I sometimes pondered, back in the day when the possibility of a nuclear strike from the U.S.S.R. was a statistically perceived threat, that if such an attack was launched would Manchester be just that bit safer than say Stoke, as it had signs all round it stating it as a nuclear free city; I also used to ponder on “why does a red cow give white milk when it only eats green grass...” so it just goes to show...
The ever recurring theme of bad housing and the depletion of housing stock creating an ongoing crisis in the city.

Bit about Clive Lloyd and his forthcoming 40th celebrations. He used to pop round our house sometimes as my mam was a friend of his wife’s and sometimes he’d pick her up to baby sit for them. He was obviously a very tall and a pretty quiet individual, and as mostly me and my sisters cared not a feather or a fig about cricket he’d just sit there watching the telly for a few minutes till my mam was ready. Years later I kinda thought, wow ,that was Clive Lloyd!
