The Hacienda
20th May 1989

Only was in this city once and it wasn’t for this. I'd heard so many tales of it after my brother had lived on a barge there for a number of years at the height of its hippydom‘.
'81; memories of sneaking in the Milky Way / Paradiso Clubs, sleeping in the bushes in Vondel Park and on building sites, free piss-ups at the Heineken Brewery, free nosh at the Hare Krishna’s, jumping the train to Rotterdam for a music festival and somehow blagging back stage passes, chasing dragons (tres dull !) etc. Three of us all pretty much skint so why did we even bother going? Still not sure. .... We ended up in a Buddhist commune in Norwich after all that which was somewhat better. There’s nuthin’ quite like the sound you get patting a Buddhist on their bald head first thing in the morning; it's delightful! I've still got the Dalai Llama on my “to do “ list.
I also found out that the English countryside can be a very nice place to be.
Maybe someone can shed some light on this particular Hacienda outing...?
Moving right along.....
